Today we celebrate the arrival of Backdrop release 1.3.0, on schedule and with an impressive list of enhancements, produced by a lean, keen team in a remarkably short space of time. I would recommend anyone currently using Drupal to take a good look at Backdrop and its significant refinements.
I have today upgraded three sites (including this) without a hitch and this calm exterior reminds me of an iceberg with 90% of it hidden from view, or a majestic swan gliding smoothly over the water as its webbed feet do the hard work out of site. For there has been a lot of hard work going on as the experts review what we have, exchange ideas, submit proposals and finally commit modifications to program code ready for the real world.
Congratulations to Nate Haug and Jen Lampton for initiating this venture and for their hard work and leadership. It was almost by chance that I found out about this project just over a year ago and I, though relatively unskilled compared with the real experts, am delighted and privileged to be one of the team.
